THE ATLANTIC MUSIC EXPO: HOT SPOT OF VIBRANT TRANSATLANTIC CULTURAL EXCHANGES BRINGING TOGETHER MUSIC PROFESSIONALS, ARTISTS & MORE

An event marked on the cultural and touristic calendar of Cape Verde since 2013. The Atlantic music expo kicked off its 10th edition on Monday, April 1st, 2024.  

With more than 9 editions, the Atlantic music expo has become the go-to event for trans atlantic networking, exchanges, insight, and music, bringing together music professionals, artists and more from Cabo Verde, across Africa, America and beyond.

The four-day event kicked off with an opening ceremony, tributes and Cape Verdean music showcases with performances from Banda Cartel, Hélida, Katy Dias, Paulinha and more.

Whilst the following days saw day and night showcases (including an urban music stage and DJ sets), conference programme, practical workshops, one-to-one meetings, and evening street market, which all combine to provide the perfect setting for music professionals and artists to network, expand their contacts and activities.

AME has become a very powerful think-tank around topics such as creolisation, the role of culture in development, advocacy for the African music sector, reinforcing the transatlantic exchanges, and more.

Yearly turning its largest city and capital Praia, into a hot spot of vibrant transatlantic cultural exchanges, the Atlantic music expo has hosted 3.500 delegates from 55 countries, with 70 conferences and workshops, 250 DJ sessions and more than 760 artists from 38 countries.

The Atlantic music expo has established itself as a strong, valuable, and welcoming music professionals’ meeting for Cabo Verde, Africa, and all sides of the Atlantic
