The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf received Thursday a phone call from the Secretary General (SG) of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, during which the two parties discussed the prospects for strengthening joint Arab action as well as the implementation of decisions of the Arab Summit held last November in Algiers.
Mr. Aboul Gheit congratulated Mr. Attaf on his appointment as head of the Algerian diplomacy, while exchanging greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadhan.
In the same vein, the two parties reviewed the cooperation between Algeria and the Arab League as well as the prospects for strengthening joint Arab action in the best interests of the Arab Ummah and its issues, first of which the Palestinian cause.
The Head of Diplomacy raised the issue of monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the Algiers Summit, stressing the importance of establishing the mechanisms provided for, including the Arab ministerial committee for action to achieve the State of Palestine’s full membership in the UN.
It was agreed to address these issues in the framework of coordination between the General Secretariat and the Permanent Representation of Algeria to the Arab League.
