As part of his participation to the 42nd Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council, Mr. Lamamra held bilateral talks on Thursday in Addis Ababa with his Malian counterpart, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, as well as with the President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Dr. Omar Touray.

The discussions were mainly focused on the challenges facing the peace and reconciliation process in Mali, as well as ways and means to overcome the current obstacles in order to boost the dynamic required for the implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali from the Algiers process.

Mr. Lamamra affirmed that Algeria as leader of the international mediation and chair of the Monitoring Committee of the implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali (CSA), is pursuing its efforts to achieve the necessary consensus between all Malian parties signatories of the Agreement and strengthen their commitment to this framework, in order to achieve its objectives on the ground.
