Egypt: President El-Sisi Follows-up on Community Development Efforts in Sinai

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Mohamed Zaki; Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik; and Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine El-Kabbaj.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmad Fahmy, said the meeting followed-up on current and future programs to enhance community development efforts for Egyptian citizens from Sinai, as part of the national strategy for the comprehensive development of the Sinai Peninsula.

The President was briefed on the major axes of community development efforts in Sinai. This included enhancing social protection initiatives and generating jobs in order to achieve economic empowerment based on medium, small and micro enterprises in fields which constitute comparative advantage of the area. This is, in addition to promoting the level of healthcare, educational, cultural and sports services delivered to the citizens.

During the meeting, the President emphasized that the State’s efforts in the implementation of the Sinai Development Strategy must aim at formulating an advanced and integrated development path, that encompasses the promotion of investment in human capital with a view to supporting the Sinawi society at all levels, in collaboration and coordination among the various relevant authorities in the State.
