Eritrea: Independence Cup in Southern Region

The Independence Cup that commenced its journey from the historical place in Nakfa on 24 April containing sacred soil reached the Southern region concluding its trip of the Southern Red Sea Region.

The handing over ceremony that was carried out today, 07 April in Kohaito was attended by officials of the two regions, Army Commanders, village elders as well as number of the residents of Adi-Keih sub-zone.

The Independence Cup was handed over to Mr. Habteab Tesfatsion, Governor of the Southern region by Ambassador Mohammed-Seid Mantai, Governor of the Southern Red Sea Region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Habteab indicating that the handing over of the Independence Cup at the historical site of Kohaito has deep meaning, expressed pride to receive the cup containing sacred soil.

Mr. Habteab also handed over the Independence Cup to Mr. Habtai Tesfazghi, administrator of Adi-Keih sub-zone.

Upon reaching Adi-Keih city, the Independence Cup was accorded warm welcome by Adi-Keih residents and members of the Defense Forces featuring cultural and artistic performances and military march.

Concluding its journey in Adi-Keih sub-zone, the Independence Cup was handed over to Mr. Idris Ali Shiker, administrator of Senafe sub-zone.
