On April 24 (local time), Japanese citizens and their spouses and children totaling 45 people were evacuated on a Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) C-2 transport aircraft from Port Sudan in eastern Sudan to Djibouti in response to the situation in Sudan.

Four other Japanese citizens have already evacuated from Sudan to Djibouti or Ethiopia with the cooperation of France and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

In response to the situation, the Government of Japan, together with relevant countries, has been calling on all actors to stop the violence immediately. In addition, the Government of Japan has been doing everything it can to protect Japanese citizens, in coordination with other countries and international organizations. Under these circumstances, we have been working closely with relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces, to carry out the series of evacuation operations.

The Government of Japan expresses its deepest appreciation for the cooperation extended by many countries and organizations, including the Republic of Korea, France, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the United Nations, and the IFRC.

The Government of Japan will continue to do everything possible to ensure the safety of Japanese citizens in Sudan and provide them with the necessary support.
