Kenya and Argentina have announced plans to strengthen their collaboration in the health sector, with a focus on improving access to quality healthcare for citizens of both countries.

Speaking during a meeting with the Argentina ambassador to Kenya, H.E Gabriella Martinic, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Nakhumicha Susan Wafula, expressed her appreciation for the support that Argentina had provided to Kenya in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Wafula and Ambassador Martinic discussed various areas of collaboration, including tapping into Argentina’s advanced technological sector to aid Kenya in telemedicine, as well as exploring the possibility of having Kenya’s skilled health workforce offered employment opportunities in Argentina.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of such collaborations in achieving the goal of providing universal health coverage, which is a key priority in Kenya’s Big Four Agenda. She also highlighted the need to leverage technology to improve healthcare access and outcomes, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

Kenya and Argentina have a long-standing partnership, with collaboration in various areas including agriculture, education, and trade. The renewed focus on health sector collaboration is expected to bring significant benefits to both countries.
