Course participants from The National Defence College – Kenya have completed a study tour in Japan that took place from the 2nd – 11th April 2023 in Japan.
The delegation led by Ambassador Robert Ngesu, Deputy Commandant – Civil at the college, commenced the visit with a courtesy call at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya – Tokyo on 3rd April 2023. The team was received by the chargé d’affaires Ms. Nina Alai.
While in Japan the team visited several Japan strategic institutions within the sectors of security, economy, research and development including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Other visited sites included the Tokyo Super Eco town by Shirai, Fujita Technology Center, Jupiter Cooperation, Toyota Museum of Industry and Technology and the Tsukuba JICA Agriculture Co-Creation Hub. The visit culminated with a courtesy call to Mr. Jun Karube, Honorary Consul of Kenya in Chubu region.
The National Defence College is Kenya’s highest military training institution. It prepares selected Senior Military Officers and equivalent Senior Civil and Public Servants of the Republic of Kenya and their counterparts from selected friendly countries for higher responsibilities in the strategic direction and management of security and other related areas of public policy.
Such study visits are imperative to assist course participants use the lessons learnt in class with realistic applications that are in line with the college mission – to develop strategic leadership capacity in the public sector.
