In the morning of 12 January 2023, Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia, Yap Wei Sin met with the Director of the Centre for Asian Studies in Africa (CASA), and Professor of the Department of Sociology of the University of Pretoria, Prof Alf Gunvald Nilsen to explore collaborative opportunities between CASA and higher education institutions in Malaysia.

CASA was established in November 2022 and aims to be a leading hub for Asis and Afro-Asian studies, research, and connections in South Africa and on the African continent.
