Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, El-Sayed El-Quseir; and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Swailem as well as other officials.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the President was briefed on joint efforts by the various specialized authorities with regard to the horizontal and vertical expansion projects to increase the size and productivity of the agricultural area in Egypt. These included projects in East Owainat, Toshka, Sinai, Upper Egypt and the New Delta, in addition to future expansions in this regard.
The President gave directives to continue intensive work in the mega projects which are currently being implemented in the sectors of agriculture and irrigation, as well as agricultural and food production, which are becoming increasingly important in light of the formidable global challenges that have emerged over the past years. The President stressed the importance of mobilizing all capabilities and expertise to enhance the factors of success for these projects through accurate scientific studies and comprehensive planning, while continuing the rational use of water resources and leveraging the productivity of the water unit.
