Seychelles-Angola Relations: Accreditation of Ambassador

Mr Claude Morel presented his Letter of Credentials to the President of Angola, H.E. Mr João Lourenço, as Seychelles’ non-resident Ambassador during a ceremony at the presidential palace in Luanda, on Friday 20th January 2023, in the presence of the Minister of External Relations, Mr Tete António.

The President acknowledged the greetings of friendship conveyed on behalf of President Ramkalawan and remarked that he had met him earlier in the week at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The exchange during the meeting focused on parameters to further consolidate relations between the two countries. The implementation of the newly agreed General Cooperation Agreement will be an important vehicle to pursue mutual exchanges and partnerships in the identified sectors of tourism, fisheries, aviation, and environmental protection and management. A visa waiver agreement between the two countries is in the process of being finalised.

Collaboration in the regional and international context was also addressed, particularly within the context of the SADC agenda for regional integration. Angola will assume the chair of SADC in August during the organisation’s summit meeting scheduled in August in Luanda.
