Providing students at the nation’s flagship public university with high-quality educational experiences is a goal shared by both the University of Antananarivo and the U.S. Embassy.  That’s why the U.S. Embassy made a substantial donation of audiovisual equipment and classroom furniture today to improve the learning environments in the classrooms and library of the University’s Anglophone Studies Department.  The bookcases, desks, chairs, TVs, and e-readers that make up the bulk of the donation will enable the Anglophone Studies Department to engage its students in more effective instructional activities.

The U.S. Embassy is proud to support the Anglophone Studies Department, which, as the only university-level English language department in the country, is a vital training ground for many of the nation’s English teachers.  As the most widely spoken language in the world and the language of international business, science, and the internet, improving the quality of English education at the University of Antananarivo will open many educational and economic opportunities to Malagasy students nationwide.

President of the University of Antananarivo Pr. Mamy Ravelomanana received the donation from U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Officer Ryan Bradeen in presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Fanja Tahina Ralinirina and the Chair of the Anglophone Studies Department Harilala Andrianarivelo.

The U.S. Embassy stands alongside the University of Antananarivo like mpirahalahy mianala to support the university’s vision to “think global, act national.”  The Embassy will further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions with the opening of a new American Corner on the University campus in the near future.
