The government of the Republic of Korea welcomes the  signing of an initial framework agreement for democratic transition between civilian forces and the military in Sudan on December 5. The Korean government commends the efforts made by the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in the process.

The Korean government supports the Sudanese people’s aspiration for democratic peace and economic prosperity. The Korean government hopes that Sudan’s civilian-led transitional government will be established promptly through extensive consultations among stakeholders in Sudan.
